Tribute

Melissa Therese Gomes Barnetson, 35, of Vancouver, BC, died peacefully Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Vancouver General Hospital. She was born October 7, 1977 in Toronto, Ontario, the daughter of Paul and Linda Gomes. She courageously battled colon cancer for two years.

Melissa graduated from Msgr. Pereyma Catholic High School in Oshawa, Ontario and her life revolved around dance. She attended Creative Dance Workshop and Hearbeat of Dance where she also taught. In 2000, she moved to Vancouver, BC with her parents and she began teaching dance and musical theatre at Metropolitan Ballet Academy and Related Arts. In her spare time she passionately enjoyed painting, the arts, music, spending time with her friends, family and children.

On July 27, 2008 she was united in marriage to Aaron Randall Barnetson in Vancouver, BC.

She is survived by her husband, Aaron Barnetson and her two children, Bryce (4 years old), Mila (2 years old); her stepson, Isaac Barnetson; her parents, Paul and Linda Gomes, all from Vancouver, BC; her sister, Paula (Gomes) Archer and husband Clinton Archer of Hollywell, QLD, Australia and her brother, Matthew Gomes of Ottawa, Ontario. Melissa also leaves behind her cherished nieces, Audrey, Samantha and Alyssa and nephew, Spencer, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.

Melissa was the perfect mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend.

Inurnment Service is Friday, Feb 1, 2013 @ 11:00 am at Langley Lawn Cemetery, 4393 – 208 St, Langley, BC

Celebration of Life is Sunday, Feb 3, 2013, 2:00 – 5:00 pm at Fort Langley Evangelical Free Church, 8870 Glocer Road, Fort Langley, BC.
