Weghsteen, Robert Arthur

Tribute
Born in Bruges, Belgium. Survived by Joanne, his wife of 61 years, sons Dominic (Bev), Marc (Zeny) and daughter Nicole. Grand-daughters Ashley (Derek), Michelle, and Christine. Robert studied at St. Luc’s Art Institute in Ghent and Tournai, Belgium and at the Central School of Arts & Crafts in London, England. After serving 18 months in the Belgian Navy, he and his young family moved to Canada. Robert taught at the Vancouver School of Art (now Emily Carr University of Art + Design). In 1964, he was awarded a fellowship by the Canada Council. An active member of the Potters Guild of BC, Robert was its president in 1964. His murals grace walls all across Canada in private homes and public spaces. His wonderful pottery is in many collections.
