Tribute

“Goodbyes are only for those who love with their eyes, because for those who love with their heart and soul there is no such thing as separation.” – Rumi

Marion Teresa Oshiro passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 17, 2015. Marion was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, one of seven Shedden children and the longest living member of her family. Life on the prairies turned out a pretty hardy stock and Marion lived up to this undeniably. She knew life was not all smooth sailing and she prepared herself for a bumpy ride. Along with her gritty determination, her sparky temperament, her infectious humour, she had a kind heart that instantly noticed when someone felt sad, or under the weather and extended to them in the best way she could, by giving them a teddy bear. She gave out a lot of teddy bears.Marion enjoyed the sing-a-longs and social events at Carrington House and having a friendly chat with her neighbours. Her calendars were always marked with upcoming events and she looked forward to every one of them.Marion's greatest joy was her family. Having just celebrated her 62nd Wedding Anniversary with her husband, George, the love of her life, adding another milestone. With Marion's boundless energy, her husband George remained her quiet anchor. Marion took pleasure in the latest updates on the events in lives of daughters, grandchildren and anyone connected within that circle. Marion loved being “the First to know” and often was. Everyone loved to share with her, because she took genuine delight in the latest news and was happy to pass it along. It is wonderful to know Marion will be close to her sisters once more, Peggy, Kay and her trusty sidekick, Pam; her much admired sister-in-law, Mary, as well as her brothers, Frank, Dave and Bill. The clan will be together once again. The memories of Marion will be cherished forever by her loving husband, George, her daughters, Ramona, Kim, Pam (Rob), Paula (Doug) and grandchildren, Kara (Alex), Nick, Craig, Emily (Phil), Chloe (Kevin), Shayleen, Janna, Matthew and great grandchildren, Rayfe, Kaiya and one on the way, as well as many adored nieces, nephews and special people that touched her life. The rain poured down steadily, but the sun peeked through the hospital window and left a rainbow in the sky the day she passed. Marion's final wave as she took leave for Heaven.Special thanks to Dr. Patel, Dr. Nemanishen, Lorraine, Ingrid and the staff at Mission Memorial Hospital. At Marion's request, a private family celebration of life took place on Sat. Nov. 21.

Sure wish I could be there with you all now. Seems like I was just there! I’m glad you’re there for each other though, as you recall all the precious memories of Auntie Marion and how special she was to us all. May God give you the comfort and encouragement you need daily.

Our sincere condolences to George, Ramona, Kim, Paula and Pam and their families on the passing of Marion. Growing up in Saskatoon across the street from the Oshiro clan was such a pleasure. I remember Marion with such a warm smile and heart. My best memory is the joy on Vancouver Avenue when she was pregnant with Paula and Pam and how we waited with great anticipation to meet “the twins”. We were not disappointed by being introduced to them in the stroller a few days later. I totally appreciated the fact that she welcomed on a daily basis, my younger sister, Janet, into her home. It got her out of my hair. I was truly blessed to have known Marion and the entire family. Another angel is watching over us. Godspeed, dear lady.
