Palmer, Laurie Evelyn
May 21, 1957 - October 24, 2016
Tribute
It is with saddened hearts that the family of Laurie Evelyn Palmer announces her sudden passing after a very short battle with cancer, on Monday, October 24th, 2016, at the age of 59 years. Laurie will be lovingly remembered by her parents Alex and Evelyn, her siblings Alex (Diane), Joan (Doug), along with her many aunts, uncles, cousins nieces and nephews. Laurie was predeceased by her sister Kathleen Beatty (Bob), and her brother Dan (Louise). Laurie was a beautiful, loving, giving and generous person. She cared about everyone. She saw the beauty in everyone, and genuinely and unconditionally loved them all. She always enjoyed the company of other people, and when she got together with family and friends, capturing the moment on camera was Laurie’s passion. With that passion, we now are forever grateful to be able to share all the photos she took. Another passion of hers was helping others in need. She spent many hours quilting, making exceptional quilts that she then generously gave to the MCC. As well as quilts, Laurie devoted herself to the Operation Christmas Child. She helped fill many shoe boxes for the many children around the world. Another event Laurie gave many hours to, was Expo 86. She faithfully went every day guiding countless visitors. Laurie never took a second thought on dropping what she was doing and getting in her car to do errands, picking something up, dropping something off, or babysitting her nieces and nephews. Laurie rarely missed a Sunday at church and enjoyed the times she shared going with her mother and being with her and the congregation. Her faith in God was steadfast. Laurie was taken from us far too soon; however, we take great comfort in knowing she is at peace and in the arms of the Lord.
A celebration of Laurie’s life will be held on Tuesday, November 1st, at 1:00 pm, at the Peace Lutheran Church, 2029 Ware St. Abbotsford, BC, with Pastor Christoph Reiners presiding. A reception at the church will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Laurie can be made to the Peace Lutheran Church, 2029 Ware St., Abbotsford, BC V2S 3C3
