Tribute

Joyce Ann Stevens (De Boer), born January 11, 1938 in Vancouver, BC, passed away peacefully at the age of 79 in Surrey on March 9, 2017.

As a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she was survived by Ronald Stevens, her loving husband of 57 years, her children: Wayne (Charlene), Angela (Tony), Paul (Susanne), Wendy (Tony), Mary (Scott), Steve; and her grandchildren: Justin, Whitney (Sheldon), Cory, Leah (Dan), Luke (Emily), Peter, Robyn (Colton), Dean, Simon and Ryan.  She was also a caring sister to Mary, Pete (Rene), Ed (Shirley).

Joyce was an amazing lady who opened her heart and home to many people, who she viewed as part of her family.  She cherished her cousins and her many nephews and nieces.

As a pillar in the family, she always had a meal prepared for her family, spent a lot of time in her gardens that she cared for dearly. These gardens bloomed brilliantly and the vegetable gardens provided food for the family, whether it is in her meals or just family running to the garden to grab the vegetables right off the plant when visiting. She lived life through simple pleasures; talking with friends and family, spending time with her children and grandchildren, and searching for pieces of Fenton hobnail milk glass at the antique stores. 

The family would like to express their thanks and love to Elim Village for the wonderful help and care they provided during the last part of her life.

The family will receive friends following the mass and service at the family home: 14400 Colebrook Rd, Surrey, BC.

Services to be held Tuesday, March 14, 2017 as follows; Viewing will be held at 9:00 am followed by Funeral Mass at 10:00 am, held in the chapel at Gardens of Gethsemani. Burial to follow in the Gardens of Gethsemani Cemetery 15800 – 32 Avenue, Surrey, BC
