Plovie, Raymond Douglas

April 15, 1967 - April 2, 2016

Tribute

It is with the heaviest heart that I announce that the love of my life and soul mate Raymond Douglas Plovie was taken suddenly on Saturday April 2, 2016. Ray is survived by his wife Jodi, 2 sons Mitchell Lock (Cherie), Taylor Lock (Marion), mother Renate Plovie, Brother Rick (Samantha), Nephew Mackenzie, Niece Spencer, Father and Mother in law Walt & Jackie Halbauer as well as many extended family and friends but especially his “brother from another Mother” Dean Francis (Tammy) and nephews Darien & Dylan. Pre deceased by his father, Roger Plovie. Ray & Jodi along with their dog Ally enjoyed many outdoor adventures in their camper they fondly named “Precious”. They would sit by the fire in their lawn chairs pondering and planning their next adventure. Snappy Ray was a well loved Snap-on dealer for the past 22 years, with the last 15 years close to home in the Mission/Abbotsford area. Ray was very well liked and respected by both the company and his customers forming many friendships both professional and personal. Ray leaves very big shoes to fill. A celebration of life will take place on what would've been Ray's 49th birthday, Friday April 15th, 2016 at 3pm, doors open at 2:15 at the Best Western Plus Mission City Lodge, 32281 Lougheed Highway, Mission, BC. Casual attire welcomed. As this is a celebration of Ray's life, and in typical Ray Plovie style we will raise a glass for him with a cash bar and light snacks available immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Our condolences to Jodi and the Plovie family. Words cannot express how sad we are to hear of Ray’s passing. Ray was one of the coolest guys we’ve ever met and Mal and I feel privileged to have known him, if even for a brief time. Ray’s laugh was contagious and he will be greatly missed.

I couldnt believe it when I heard it, I still can’t. 9 years ago I first stepped foot on Ray’s truck and he was my tool guy ever since. The first tool I ever bought was off you. Even when I was out of his territory id still call him and meet him on the back roads to square up and have a few laughs. I loved to bug him about the price of his tools, and he thought it was funny. Man was he a Snap-On guy and I mean he wore it on his heart. We’d always take kidney shots at mac tools because we thought it was funny because we knew the DIFFERENCE.

Around Christmas time I was buying a tool for my dad and it was on back order, so Ray pulls out his phone and says we will see in less than one minute if it will be here on time I respond with “really?” Ray responds with “It’s called professionalism man, what does this look like, the ******* yellow truck?” Man we got a laugh out of that. Sure enough you were right and they responded within a minute. Impressive. You even hooked me up with a tool box, a beautiful one too and I still thank you for that my friend. I think ill keep my 95th anniversary shirt you gave me for Christmas on the wall, it was my favorite.

My heart truly goes out to Ray’s family. He was a good man and I will miss him.
