Tribute

Randal James Lineker
July 28, 1962 – April 15, 2012
Resident of Mission, B.C.
After a courageous eight month battle with cancer Randy passed away peacefully early Sunday morning at Abbotsford Regional Hospital. Randy was born in Port Arthur, Ontario and raised in Gibsons, B.C. He graduated from Elphinstone Secondary and also from BCIT with honors. Randy spent 22 years working for FedEx where he was universally loved by his fellow employees and his clients, Randy was more than a driver he was the resident FedEx goodwill ambassador! He was one of four children born to Marion Lineker and the late Raymond Lineker. Randy is survived by his mother Marion; loving wife Melissa; sons Brodie and Dylan; brothers Brent (Vicki), Larry (Bonita), and Cameron (Stephany); and nieces and nephews Mandi, Jordan, Courtney, Bryce, Tessa, Crosby, and Renny. Randy touched all who knew him with the kindness and thankfulness that marked his life. He was an amazing husband, dad, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He loved sports especially playing rugby as an accomplished player. He loved his food especially when Scott made chicken wings. Randy was everybody’s favorite uncle. He was often referred to as the uncle who really knew how to play. Randy’s qualities are endless. He left a mark on all who he has touched. Randy lived every day with honesty and integrity. A special thank you to all the nurses and staff at the palliative care unit at Abbotsford Regional Hospital and especially to Randy’s best friend Scott who was with him every step of the way. Viewing will be held at Bakerview Community Crematorium & Celebration Center 34863 Cemetery Ave, Mission BC on Friday April 20th from 6:00-8:00 pm. Memorial service will be held at Bakerview Community Crematorium & Celebration Center on Saturday April 21, 2012 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations to the BC Cancer Foundation in memory of Randy would be greatly appreciated.

Bakerview Community Crematorium & Celebration Centre Staff send our condolences to family and friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

From: Natasha King
Relation: Worked with Randy

My thoughts go out to Melissa, Brodie and Dylan.

This is never easy but he is at peace now.

Randy was a gentle soul in a rugby player’s body. He had great stories from all his years on road and kept me laughing on our checkrides. He especially talked about growing up in Gibsons his old cars and the one time that one ended up rolling off the ferry!

Randy joined FedEx Express 11/06/1989 and worked routes in most areas of the city but I really think his favorite was the most recent one as a Mission Domicile. He used to joke that he loved his “commute”, which was walking down the front walk.

Randy was very thougtful and spoke fondly of his children. If we had any little trinkets or awards distributed at work Randy would always arrange to take two home for the boys so they would each have one.

Thank you Randy for your support and friendship over the years.

Rest in Peace. Natasha
