Ferguson, Norman Percival
May 20, 1929 - June 19, 2016
Tribute
It is with great sadness that the family of Norman Percival Ferguson announces his passing on Sunday, June 19, 2016, at the age of 87 years. The son of Charles Percival and Aene (Carter) Ferguson, Norman was born on 20 May 1929 in Mission, BC. Norman was a lifelong resident of Mission and well known in the community for his jovial character and positive outlook on life. In his early years Norman learned a love of the land from his grandparents in Hatzic and was an accomplished horseman. Norman’s first love was his horses, until he met Beverley. Norman served the Mission community well as a member of the Mission Volunteer Fire Department from the early 1940s and later as the Fire Chief from 1961-1962. Norman was a longstanding member of the Christadelphian Ecclesia in Mission and later Surrey, BC. His love of God was evident in the way he gave of himself to others and created a loving family that included many more than his own. Norman will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years, Beverley (Bodell) and his children, Kim (Bob Blumenauer), Reid (Patricia), Alyson, and Andrea (David Marshall). He will be fondly remembered by his six grandchildren, Eden (Jeff Wolgram), Jordan (Kourtney), Abigail, Hannah, Jason (Sylvia) and Aaron (Susanna). His great grandchildren Jeremy, Azriel, Jethro, Ethan, Judah and Elizabeth all were privileged to have Papa in their lives. Norman was loved by his sisters, Barbara, Muriel and Lynn. Norman was predeceased by his beloved daughter Deborah Joan, his sister Margaret Bennett and brother Ronald Ferguson. Norman was loved by the many people he and Beverley welcomed into their home and their hearts. A Celebration of Life in memory of Norman will be held on Monday, June 27, at 2:00 pm, at the Bakerview Community Crematorium and Celebration Centre 34863 Cemetery Avenue, Mission BC. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Norman to the Christine Morrison Hospice.

I was so sorry to hear of Norman’s passing. Although I haven’t seen Norm in years, as a youngster, he was a neighbour, then as a young worker, Norm was a mentor and friend. I have many fond memories but a favorite is when Norm came to look at horses with me. We’d look at a horse and He would say “Yes, it’s all horse”. I would ride it and ask Norm if he wanted to ride, he would say, “No, you’re the one buying, you ride.” Till I was trying out a particular horse and Norm said “Get off and let me ride” I knew that was the one to buy!
God Bless you Norm! I’m sure you’re in heaven riding right now!
