Tomlinson, Daniel Arthur

April 15, 1950 - November 18, 2016

Tribute

Daniel, surrounded by loved ones, passed on peacefully to his eternal home with the Lord on November 18th, 2016 in Vancouver, BC at the age of 66.

Loving husband of Denise. Dear father of Renée (pre-deceased), Erynn, Adom and Scot. Wonderful brother of Diane and Jaime (Doug). Great son of Philip and Beverlie (both pre-deceased). True companion of many other relatives and friends.

Daniel was born on April 15th, 1950 in Vancouver, BC where he grew up and lived most of his life. He graduated from David Thompson Secondary School in 1969. He began working with his parents at the family business called “Main Electronic Supplies Ltd.” within months after it was founded in 1971. In 1985 he met Denise, the love of his life, and in August of 1989 they were married. Daniel and his parents successfully operated their electronics business, that they dearly loved, right up until their passing. A dedicated and successful 45 years in business. Both Daniel and his father Phil were known to say, “When you love what you do, you don't work a day of your life.” Aside from work, Daniel greatly enjoyed family time, going to the movies, weekly date nights, online gaming with friends, lake fishing and relaxing with good company around a campfire. We'll forever treasure his quick wit, wise counsel and wonderful sense of humour.

Daniel Tomlinson truly blessed the many family, friends and acquaintances he shared his life with and was himself greatly blessed through the love he was shown by others. We love you Daniel! Until that great day when we meet again!

A shared service to celebrate the lives of both Daniel Tomlinson and his father Philip Tomlinson will be held at Broadway Church on Saturday, February 25th, 2017 at 1pm. The address is 2700 East Broadway, Vancouver, BC, Canada, V5M 1Y8. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Broadway Church designated to “Missions.”

Danny, growing up on Beatrice street you always kept us laughing. You were so much fun, you had such a good outlook on life. It was hard to be sad around you because you would make us laugh. I can still remember the time you came up to my parents house on Christmas dressed as Santa, all the little kids were amazed that Santa came to see them. I enjoyed all the house parties. We will party it up again someday. Rest in peace.

Sorry I couldn’t be there today but wanted you all to know I am thinking of you today and everyday. I knew Daniel was struggling but still was a shock to hear of his passing. Daniel: Growing up on Beatrice street together and afterwards was a lot of fun. Parties were great!!! “Drink up Shriner” Until we meet again. Love Cheryl

Uncle Daniel was so full of life. I always looked forward to our chats. He was always a pleasure to be around and he genuinely cared about people. Someone that you couldn’t and wouldn’t want to ever forget. His memories will live on through all of us.

I will always hold deep within my heart the memories of us chatting about life and careers and his inspiring words “do what you love”. I think about them on a daily basis and they drive me to live life to its fullest because you never know when your time on earth is done. He has truly gone to a better place and it is only a matter of time until we meet again.

Love eternally,

Sarah Setchfield

Missing his helpfulness. Sometimes I would catch him in a slow time at the store and we’d talk of fishing or about old electronics. I’ll miss that too. Bless his memory and his family.

Surprised and sad to learn today of the passing of Phil and Daniel. Phil used to call at Ed’s TV in Langley where I worked summers of 1970 and 1972. Ever cheerful, ever helpful, always had a can do attitude. Some of the old record players of that era were difficult to get going 100% and if Phil came by he would say “Let me look at it” and when he got close to the solution he would exclaim “Sukiyaki!”. It was years later visiting the store on Main Street where I met Daniel. He was just like his dad in how he went about his work, ever helpful, ever enthusiastic. I will miss them.
