Tribute

It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of Cyril Ramsay at the age of 89 years.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years Daphne; his sons Stephen (Connie) and John (Pamela); his grandsons Micah, Jordan, Joseph and Lachlan; and his great granddaughter Aubree.

Born in Whitehaven, Cumberland, England, he studied at Workington Technical School and then much later at the University of British Columbia in Executive Management.

He joined the Royal Air Force at the age of 17 in 1943 where he trained as a pilot.  He came to Canada in 1954 with a management team to develop Annacis Island.  It is in the Lower Mainland that he raised his family and built a notable career.  He is well known in the business community for his leadership with Laing Construction and Grosvenor-Laing Construction and in his own consulting company Ramsay-Ferguson Consulting.

He retired in 2000 and carried on an active life reading, woodworking, with community activities with his church and supporting the activities of his grandsons who he was very close to.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, March 28 at 11:30 at the Oasis at Elim Village, 9025 – 160 Street, Surrey, BC.
