June 29, 1925 – November 24, 2013
Arnold Rode aged 88 years passed away peacefully on Sunday November 24, 2013 and will be dearly missed. Arnold will be lovingly remembered by Frances, his wife of 63 years; children Janice Lake (Gary), Doug Rode (Arlene), Tim Rode (Eleanor); 4 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Arnold was born in Lanigan Saskatchewan. He soon moved to a homestead north of Grande Prarie Alberta. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1944 until 1946. After taking automotive training he moved his young family to Abbotsford BC in 1952, where he co-owned and operated Bakerview Motors until the early 1980’s. Many years of volunteer service included Kiwanis, Salvation Army and the Abbotsford Food Bank. Arnold was also an Elder at the Trinity United Church. Upon retirement he enjoyed extensive travels, camping, boating, and going south every winter. Hobbies included fishing, golf, hunting, playing bridge, and he was a champion at horseshoes. A private family Memorial will be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Arnold Rode may be made to the Salvation Army.
