Tribute

Passed away on November 12, 2013 in Langley, BC after a long battle with cancer. Arlene was born on July 17, 1946 in Humboldt, Saskatchewan. Predeceased by her parents, Alphonse and Veronica Schmid. She will be lovingly remembered by Cecil her husband of 47 years; daughter Tracie (Sheldon McIver); son Trevor; grandchildren Jayne-Ann, Robbie, and Anson; brothers Lambert (Hilda) of Surrey, BC, Larry (Linda) of Langley, BC, Roger (Lorraine) of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and Don (Jacque) of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Arlene was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish, Delta BC, St. Bernadette Parish, Surrey, BC, and most recently St. Joseph’s Parish in Langley, BC.  Arlene was a member of the St. Bernadette CWL and volunteered for the bingo for over 25 years where she had built a large and varied group of friends. She also worked for over 30 years for Tradewinds Intl (Bob & Joyce Schmidt & Stewart & Gwen Schmidt) in the Amway business where she had the opportunity to travel the world and meet a wide magnitude of friends. The family would like to thank all her friends that provided support and prayers over the last years and months she battled cancer. She took on her illness with courage and dignity and showed her true strength and faith. Prayers will be held on Friday November 15, 2013 at 7:45 pm at St. Bernadette Parish 6543 – 132nd Street Surrey, BC, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 11:00 am Interment at the Gardens of Gethsemani at a later date.

Dear Cecil and Family: Our deepest condolences. Thinking of you all and keeping you close to our hearts and in our prayers. Remembering the fun times back in the late ’60’s, the hockey games the visits and playing cards. We are thankful for our last visit and wish there could have been more of them. Sorry that we will not be able to make it to the service on Saturday.
